The front deck houses the main gas bottle for heating and cooking as well as a spare. Under the two side seats are large spaces for storing windlasses, mooring pins and the mallet, and if venturing onto rivers, the anchor. When cruising in the winter, a couple of bags of coal are usually kept in these lockers as well.

The whole bow section is taken up with a capacious water tank, sufficient for two people for about ten days, depending mainly on how many baths and showers are taken from it. Also, between the deck and the base of the boat, is a large storage area for odds & sods such as spare tins of paint and extra chairs. It's accessible from the bedroom by removing the door-step and does require a degree of 'flexibility' to get objects from the far end!

While on the move, it's even quieter on deck here than at the back of the boat, and the loudest noise is usually the gentle lapping of the water around the bows. Unless the local wildlife are in song, when that will tend to dominate.
