The useful side hatch is a feature found on most narrowboats. On Saros, we have a Perspex sheet which can be slid into position across the opening when the doors are open, to allow extra light into the galley, while reducing draughts if cooking.

The area below the hatch has a set of shelves where the set of Nicholson's Navigation Guides reside, in case you get lost!
