The 'Skew' Bridge

62K JPEG image The 'Skew' railway bridge, a few hundred metres south of Sapperton Tunnel's Coates Portal along the canal, is a superb example of brickwork. If visiting the tunnel, it is well worth taking ten minutes or so to walk down to see this bridge, then walk back to the portal, enjoying the roundhouse and views of the 'King's Reach' on the way back.

Note in this picture, the poor state of the canal, with rubbish and untidy scrub, and compare it with the other pictures where Cotswold Canals Trust volunteers have done a superb job of clearing and cleaning the canal bed.
