LGS Class of '61 Reunion
The reunion on Saturday the 27th July started from The Trout Inn
near Lechlade at about 6:45 pm.
Charlie piloted the comfortable river launch 'Inglesham'
down this, the
highest navigable stretch of the Royal River Thames.
We missed Old Father Thames, as we went downstream due to the
bright evening sun, which would have made it difficult seeing
where we were going.
We brought picnics, and a bottle or two of whatever you drink, and come rain or
shine, it will be a lovely evening.
How to find Lechlade/The Trout:
here's a map showing Lechlade in relation to the surrounding major roads
and towns:
and here's a close up map showing The Trout in relation to Lechlade
(it's just outside on the A417 towards Faringdon).
And this is what it looks like from above, Inglesham will be moored at the
end of the Trout's beer garden (if you get there early you can have a game
of Aunt Sally) and there's plenty of parking in the field if necessary
where the words 'car park' are (wave your mouse over the picture).
Access to the parking is off the minor road
which goes off left just before the Trout as you head towards Faringdon (and
before you cross St. John's Bridge).
And if you click on the picture it'll take you to some pictures of the boat, but you'll
need to click on your browser's 'back' button to get back here.
